So named because of the lavenders growing around it, La Maison des Lavandes (Lavender House) is a very comfortable fully furnished one bedroom house located in the calm village of Vinon about 7 kilometers from Sancerre.  Can sleep up to 3 in one large bedroom: 1 double bed + 1 folding bed. Winter: 355 euros (November, December, January, February)
Spring: 395 euros (March, April)
Summer: 435 euros (May, June, July, August)
Autumn: 395 euros (Sept. - Oct.)

Notes

Maison des Lavandes was constructed in the 1920s and was occupied by the village blacksmith and his family for many years. It's located in the center of the village across from the 15th century church and sits on the trail head of a hiking and mountain biking trail.

Note: These accommodations are strictly nonsmoking and no animals are permitted.

Accommodations

Downstairs: Living room, dining area, kitchen and bathroom, all with restored original terra cotta floor tiles (except for bathroom which is modern ceramic floor tiles).

The open floor plan (few interior walls dividing off rooms) makes it light, airy and spacious. Tall ceilings and original tall windows trimmed with lace curtains (3 windows plus half-windowed antique oak door) provide lots of sunlight.

The living room is decorated with period furniture (2 arm chairs and a sofa), including an antique marble and bronze coffee table..

The dining area is decorated with solid oak furniture, Henry II style.

The modern kitchen is "butcher block" beech wood  with light-gray ceramic tile and has a dishwasher, stove, oven, microwave, coffee machine and various kitchen appliances.

The bathroom is also modern with white ceramic floor tiles and has a stand-up shower with double glass doors.

Upstairs: Beech wood staircase leads to a large bright bedroom and study area occupying the entire upstairs of the house. A south-facing skylight (opens) plus oversized windows let in additional sunlight. The armoire and desk are both oak. The floor is restored 80 year-old oak parquet.

There is a washing machine, CD/cassette player, color TV. There is a front yard with lawn and patio furniture, BBQ. Parking.
