Location

We're located in the famous Loire Valley winemaking town of Sancerre (pop. 2500). Sancerre boasts more than 300 small family-owned wineries making Pouilly Fumé, Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc and red Pinot Noir wines. This is French country life at its finest with outdoor markets, charming village cafés, and relaxed friendly people.

There is much to do in our area. Wine tasting, swimming, horseback riding, kayaking/canoeing on the Loire River, hiking, golfing, tennis -- it's all here!

Sancerre's location in the upper Loire Valley is an ideal base from which to explore the chateaux, cathedrals and vineyards of our region. The cathedral town of Bourges is a scenic 30 minute drive away; Paris just 2 hours by train or car....

Speaking of cars, it's a good idea to rent one so that you can enjoy the many sites to see here. Or, if you prefer to just settle into La Thaumassière and relax in our quiet hilltop town, forget the car and come from Paris by train!

Gabriel

The theme of the sunny Gabriel studio apartment is the archangel Gabriel.

Upon entering this apartment, your eye is immediately drawn to the large bronze chandelier in the middle of the room. Gold gilding adorns the double doors and windows. An elegant 3-mirrored Louis XVI armoire stands in one corner facing a stylish "Voltaire" armchair and Louis-Philippe reading table. On the sunny southern side of the apartment, two tall antique windows look out over Sancerre's historic Place de la Panneterie below. Between them is an enormous gilded mirror.

High above the polished oak floor of this large 325 square feet (30 M2) studio is an original ceiling painting. The archangel Gabriel floats in a heavenly sky surrounded by cherubs and doves.

The Gabriel apartment has a private kitchen, private bathroom and double bed (plus a folding bed) offering comfort and convenience.

This apartment is suitable for 1 or 2 people.
